“Be Courageous~Be Brave~Be You!”
I heard a woman say it on TV sometime in the last year or so (don’t recall who) and I immediately pulled out my phone and wrote it down! I am not exactly certain why I love it so much…but I do!
I suppose in part it says to me…Go for it!…be vulnerable…take the chance of failing…take the chance of being great… show the world (or your little part of it) who you really are…risk pain…risk loss…risk sadness. And perhaps you will get hurt in some way, shape or form. But if you never go for it…if you never take a chance…how will you EVER know what’s possible?!
And I will share this…full disclosure…I don’t always (for sure) heed these words in my life. I try, and I want to, but it doesn’t always happen. Perhaps this is part of what makes me human and imperfect. I do believe that I will always aspire to these words, though. I keep coming back to them…they touch me deeply.
So here are some other quotes that I really like and seem to fit well…
“You have sole custody of your life. Who you are today is not who you have to be tomorrow. Embrace the possibility of transformation.” Leeza Gibbons
“Be true to yourself.” Cherie Blair
“Try to live an authentic life that feels true to yourself–which means living as yourself, not an imitation of anyone else, and not the reflection of yourself in anyone else’s eyes.” Maria Shriver
“Ask! Don’t say no to yourself. Make the other person say no.” Chris Matthews
“Don’t be scared to present the “real you” to the world–authenticity is at the heart of success.” Chiqui Cartagena
“Every morning, ask yourself not “What do I need to DO today?” but “How do I need to BE today?” Focus on how you can be YOUR authentic, best self.” Shannon McFayden
“When life seems overwhelming, take things an hour at a time—find comfort in the little triumphs.” Lee Woodruff
Joy & Love,
Goddess Mandy 🙂 XO
PS. Happy New Year!!!
PPS. If you’re feeling inspired in some way, I would LOVE to know. 🙂
Goddess Mandy, thank you these inspirational words of encouragement to us all. They speak to me and show the heart your submissives and subjects know so well in you. I look back upon my own training with you and see that my sessions with you have challenged me to Be Courageous-Be Brave-Be Me. Thanks for “Being You” and challenging me.
Well you are most welcome and thank YOU, Bill!! I so appreciate you letting me know just a bit more about how you see me and that I have challenged you! I LOVE that I have and I will continue to work towards doing just that. I know you need this in your life as you strive to reach your goals and become that better man! 🙂
Thanks for sharing as always, Mandy! I think in many ways I live honestly and am who I am, but in other ways it is very difficult. We are all on a journey, and I think we do our best when we just try to move forward a little bit every day. Thanks for inspiring me on that journey!
Hi Marvelous Mandy!
I just came across this and it seemed right to share here:
At age 23, Tina Fey was working at a YMCA.
At age 23, Oprah was fired from her first reporting job.
At age 24, Stephen King was working as a janitor and living in a trailer.
At age 27, Vincent Van Gogh failed as a missionary and decided to go to art school.
At age 28, J.K. Rowling was a suicidal single parent living on welfare.
At age 28, Wayne Coyne (from The Flaming Lips) was a fry cook.
At age 30, Harrison Ford was a carpenter.
At age 30, Martha Stewart was a stockbroker.
At age 37, Ang Lee was a stay-at-home-dad working odd jobs.
Julia Child released her first cookbook at age 39, and got her own cooking show at age 51.
Vera Wang failed to make the Olympic figure skating team, didn’t get the Editor-in-Chief position at Vogue, and designed her first dress at age 40.
Stan Lee didn’t release his first big comic book until he was 40.
Alan Rickman gave up his graphic design career to pursue acting at age 42.
Samuel L. Jackson didn’t get his first movie role until he was 46.
Morgan Freeman landed his first MAJOR movie role at age 52.
Kathryn Bigelow only reached international success when she made The Hurt Locker at age 57.
Grandma Moses didn’t begin her painting career until age 76.
Louise Bourgeois didn’t become a famous artist until she was 78.
Whatever your dream is, it is not too late to achieve it. You aren’t a failure because you haven’t found fame and fortune by the age of 21.
Hell, it’s okay if you don’t even know what your dream is yet. Even if you’re flipping burgers, waiting tables or answering phones today, you never know where you’ll end up tomorrow.
Never tell yourself you’re too old to make it.
Never tell yourself you missed your chance.
Never tell yourself that you aren’t good enough.
You can do it. Whatever it is that sets your soul on fire.
Love,
Princess
Thank YOU, Princess!! This is AMAZING!!!! Thank you soooooooo much for finding this and sharing it! I truly believe that it puts things in perspective. And by the time I got to the very end…I was crying. I think it was these words:
Never tell yourself you’re too old to make it.
Never tell yourself you missed your chance.
Never tell yourself that you aren’t good enough.
You can do it. Whatever it is that sets your soul on fire.
Thank you, Princess…Thank you!!!!!!! 🙂
